Data

Data

Data is raw numbers and letters. By this we mean it has no meaning.

Information

Information is when you put meaning to the raw data.

Knowledge

Knowledge is when you put rules around the information and relations.

Queen:

'Queen' is raw data.
'Queen is the name given to a female monarch' is information.
'Victoria was a female monarch, she was therefore a Queen' is knowledge.
Data type: String
Format: Text

Information is when raw data is given meaning. This can further help us understand what the raw data is intended for. for example, some raw data used in the leaflet could be text such as '260,000 - 180,000 - 195,000'. To us this data has no meaning to it, but by adding a meaning to it (such as these are the prices of current properties in their database) then this then becomes information because we know what it is being used for.

one advantage to using pictures in the brochure is that it is recognizable. this means that even if you speak a different language then it wont make a difference to your understanding of the picture and also whether you are old or young it shouldn't effect what you see in the picture. for example, if there was a picture of a house then someone from china would understand that this brochure is talking about houses. and to an elderly man they could also understand that it is about houses, without having to  read the text at all.
